I think we may be using the term "fancy cancel" more broadly than it is ordinarily used out in the stamp field.

A "fancy cancel" typically is one where the artwork is in the obliterator (killer), rather than in the postmark.  

The obliterator/killer is the right part of the cancel, often with multiple lines, that hits the stamp.  The postmark is the part to the left, which usually indicates where and when the cancel was applied.

I think all in the images shown in this non-US thread have artistic, commemorative or slogan postmarks or obliterators, rather than fancy cancels per se.

I don't know if other countries had them, but the term does have a specific meaning when used for US fancy cancels.  The illustrations that paris posted in the original thread (now the US thread) are fancy cancels,  but the subsequent posts are for commemorative cancels, slogan cancels, and the like.  Here's an example from Wikipedia:

The only reason I bring any of this up is so that, if you happen to be out somewhere in the philatelic world (either in person or online), you'd be aware that there is a difference between how that term is being used here versus elsewhere.  (I intend no harm, condescension, or anything similar.)

Updated to add:  This problem with posting actual images and "named links" is, I'm afraid, in Stamp Bears, rather than in Proboards, because I just did a post in another Proboard board and did not have a problem.)
