rayb posted this under COTW for photobucket,,don't know if it works since I don't use that one.
Go into your Photobucket library. Hover over the picture you want until the 'cog wheel' appears, top right. Hover on the 'cog wheel' until the menu appears. Click on Get Links. In the dialgue box will be a link marked Direct. Click on the code. It will now turn yellow and say Copied for a moment. On the forum click on the Add Image icon. When the dialogue box appears rub out what it says in Image URL and paste yours. Click Insert Image.
Thanks everybody! I will try to make some sense of all the above! As I said, I already belong to FOUR of those photo hosting places - Photobucket, Picasaweb, Postimage and one more that I`ve forgotten for the moment - each one has up to about 10 photos on it, none of which have yet been posted.
I have, however, managed to upload images for both Stamp Bears sites from the Internet (my St. Lawrence Seaway Invert stamp) and I am wondering what the difference is with that, and why we can`t use the same sort of thing to post other images.
Collecting Australia, New Zealand, Channel Islands, Canada, U.S., St-Pierre et Miquelon, Faroe Islands Topical - Seahorses, Paleophilately, Machins (limited), kingfishers, trees, horoscope & zodiac, O`Higgins (Chile), Lake Baikal.
This is what I observed so far. When I use the "Add image to post" button, the image shown is always a thumbnail, that can be clicked on, to make the picture bigger. Also, by doing this, the image is not saved to your account.
I made a account to postimage, but by doing this, the image is still not saved to your account.
Since I like my images already big when I post them, I upload my pics to postimage and then used the "Insert Image" button on top, the one with the picture on it. You have to get the image code for your pic and paste it in the "insert Image" box.
I'm still using the servimg from the old board. Upload my photo/scan to there, copy, and then click the insert image button in the bar. My images turn out nice and big like before. I have mine set at 800 (forum).
Another thing I have noticed on several that I believe use the "add image to post" button, is that even when I click on the image to enlarge it, it is still hard for me to make out details on some stamps.
