Have been working on South Africa the last few evenings and noticed something a little odd. In the Scott Catalogue, the numbers jump from 121 to 192. Does anyone know what happen to number 122-191???
I have seen numbers skipped, but not this big of a jump.
Scott used to assign unique major catalog numbers to the each of the English and Afrikaans singles. They re-organized the country listings (in the 1960s?) and made them into minor catalog numbers, with the major catalog number being used to identify the attached pair. The consolidation left the gap that you see today.
You see the same thing happen in Scott listings for South West Africa; 171-243 are missing.
