How do you jump to last post in a thread?

In most forums, you usually can select the date of the last post (below the poster's name) to jump to last thread.  If you click it on SB, it just jumps to the top of the page that contains the last thread.

The nice is feature is the jump to last unread post but not all forum software can handle that.

If you are asking how to get to the last post, just go to the last and highest page number and roll down to the end.

If it's a thread you've posted in, you can go to the "Participated" button on the side, click on it, click on the topic, and ProBoards will take you to the most recent post (if there isn't anything new) or the earliest post it thinks you haven't read (if there is anything new).

As far as I can tell, "Recent Topics" will only take you to the last page and you have to scroll down from there.

And as far as I can tell, "Recent Posts" will take you to the, uhh, most recent posts, but if you read a post from there and then later on go to that same topic, the post you read from "Recent Posts" will still be marked as "new" and not as "read", even though you read it.

Confused yet? Me, too. My head hurts.

If you use "Recent Topics", you can click on the "new" button and it will take you to the last unread post in the thread. This only works if you are signed in, of course.

Alternatively, you can always jump to the bottom of the page using a number of keys/combinations, such as CTRL-downarrow.

That actually works here as well. Sometimes it's a little slow to jump to that last post, but it will do it. The screen first shows the top of the thread, but 1-3 seconds later, it will jump to the last post. Not sure why it's slow sometimes.

Huh. I got it to work today too. I don't know why it hasn't in the past. Impatience usually isn't one of my vices, but there is a lag before it jumps down to the new posts, and maybe I was too hasty.

There is a big lag (my opinion) -- and I'm a pretty impatient person, although I don't always show it. Which is why I tend to click on multiple "jump to last unread post" and have them open up in separate tabs. That way the other posts are ready while I'm reading.

Something seemed to have changed since now if I select the time stamp under the last poster it will open the thread and jump to the end. I had no luck with the comments posted yesterday.

I have two different laptops both using Chrome browser and get different behavior. Oh well.

Hi angore

Really simple.

To go to the end of the Page:  Ctrl + End    then scroll up a bit to the post
To go to the top of the page:   Ctrl + Home then scroll down a bit to the post

Check your CHROME settings and make sure they are the same, especially the advanced settings at the bottom of the settings dialog. 

The Chrome browser should be the same on all Windows operating systems. Give a "for instance" on what you consider "different behavior"

After some further evaluations, I found the behavior of selecting the time stamp under the last poster as a consistent way to jump to last post on both computers. It has worked sometimes.

I am aware of all the keyboard shortcuts but just used to other forum software that this feature intentionally implemented. It is just the way it is.
