I am at 39 with a goal of 50 this year but then you probably know that from Goodreads...I am pretty confident I will make it even though I have never had a reading goal this high before.
By the way, that Adrian Tchaikovsky book looks awfully good. I have read some good reviews of this one.
I haven't pushed myself to read like this since I was in jr high school. That's when I had school mates who enjoyed books at least as much as I did, and we were always reading, discussing, comparing and sharing our science fiction books.
At 600 pages, Tchaikovsky's book is, as you might imagine, is chalkablock with scientific details, explanations, and world-building. I could have made do with a much leaner story where the author didn't seem to be trying to impress me so much with his scholarship.
