I have been reading this board for a while, and even registered, but rarely posted. So I thought that it was time to stop lurking behind the aspidistra, and come forth.
As you might have guessed from my username, I am what they politely call 'of a certain age'. Now retired(!) from the wacky world of IT, and I have to say, loving it. I live in the English Midlands of the UK.
I decided to revisit my hobby of years ago, and this time I'm back to stay. When I first looked at getting back into philately, I was somewhat shocked to see how few stamp shops were still going. But then, this is the age of t'internet, and the shops have just changed from bricks and mortar, to websites. And the online resources available to todays stampies are just amazing!
As for my collecting interests: GB and Commonwealth countries (somewhat predictable, eh?) Channel Islands Eire (Ireland) Canada USA and anything else that makes me go -'oooh'.
I have to say how much I enjoy the forum, with all the friendly, knowledgeable members. I feel at home already - I think that I might unpack my slippers, and draw up an armchair! The tea is brewing, the biscuits ready - aaaaah!!!

One of the nicest intro Phil. Please don't hesitate to ask if you have any questions. Our Moderators love to get questions. We have the same interests in stamps. My 9year old Grand daughter love the Channel Islands. And as I have just joined the retired club, we have been enjoying lots of stampy time together. Hope you will check out the Shoutbox at the bottom of the page.
I am a used World wide stamper. Always have been and always will bee.
I am a letter writer, snailmail addict. I send therefore I receive. I also manage a letter writing/correspondence forum called A World of Snail Mail and have a blog (link is in my profile). I sometimes post pictures on Instagram (username morgaine_does_snail_mail) Stamp themes - science, nature, postal history, maps, nice stamps.

Thank you all for the warm welcome!
hallie - Yes, my username was bestowed upon me by my two nieces, even though I am not actually bald, just somewhat follically-challenged on the dome. Think Patrick Stewart with a tonsure!
I was in a queue sometime ago in our local Argos store, and a voice called out 'Hey, baldie', to the puzzlement of the other people in the queue, which turned to laughter when I turned round, and said to my niece 'Its UNCLE baldie, if you please'. The cheek of it !!
crazyquilter - thanks, isn't it nice to join the ranks of the RR (Recently Released)? Nice to hear that we have the same interests. And it is wonderful to see young people taking an active interest in the hobby. And congrats on winning the July lottery - even more goodies for your granddaughter and yourself to enjoy!
As I have only recently returned to the hobby, the shelves (albums) are there, but I'm afraid that they are still mostly quite bare. I hope to put that right in the coming months. Then I might have something to upload.
Not quite sure how to use the Shoutbox - I'm a very quiet person, you know. Well, mostly - (ahem).
Hark - is that...yes, the teapot is calling. Catch you soon....
