I got thrashed last time because I didn't post about the free T-shirts until after the deadline. I thought everybody already new everything about ! I'm still in a state of shock that you all didn't know.
The cans inside are the "football" motif cans (football "laces" on one side of the can) they had used previously. I didn't check to see if there were any design difference. Individually at 120º views (last one shows the listing of poisons used):
Back in the fifties (dating myself), when I was in USAF, we used to play Dr. Pepper Poker. The cap on the Dr. Pepper bottles had the numbers 10, 2, & 4, if I remember correctly. Doctor Pepper Poker was 5 card stud with 10, 2 and 4 as wild cards Note that there was also a 7 card draw version.
What ever happened to the 10, 2 and 4 numbers???
Being from Maine, my drink of choice was Moxie. Does anyone remember the medicinal taste
Here in Atlanta, Coke Country, I am an outcast, Down Easterner (Yankee) and it's Pepsie first and then Dr. Pepper.
Do you know what the numbers 10, 2 and 4 represented?
You need to visit the Dr Pepper museum in Waco!
Back in the 1920's and 1930's, the newest "medical thought" was that blood sugar became low with the day's activities at 10:30am, 2:30pm, and 4:30pm (guess back then, research papers were published in the daily newspapers).
So in the 1950's, they adopted an advertising campaign with 10, 2, 4 (hence the sequence of the numbers) to promote replenishment of sugar in your bloodstream before your blood sugar got too low (nobody worried about getting diabetes back then, and some of us still don't!!!).
So when they reintroduced made with real sugar (the licensed bottling facility at Dublin had been the only one still making it until decided to make it again themselves last decade), they also reintroduced the 10, 2, 4 slogan.
