I'm an amateur philatelist and numismatist, picking up from where I left off in my childhood. Some of my fondest memories are searching for packs of assorted stamps with my parents in the streets of Delhi, and getting an envelope containing freshly issued Indian stamps every few months from the post office! Used to spend hours and hours poring over my (small) collection. Collected till the age of around 14, but gradually lost touch.
Fast forward to about a month back, when I found my stamp and coin albums in some old boxes in my Grandmother's house. You can imagine my delight, and I felt like a child all over again!
I've resumed collecting in earnest, going through various forums (fora?) and blog posts. My main aim is to create a complete collection of Indian Postage stamps, preferably used, both from the pre-Independence British era and post-Independence. Might extend to Feudatory/ Princely States and French/ Portuguese India in the future. I also collect worldwide stamps for fun.
Found a significant number of Cinderellas in my collection. A lot of CTO's too, which I'm not a fan of, but oh well, you get what you can.
A blog post led me to this website. It simply stated, Stamp Bears is known as the friendliest stamp forum. That was enough for me, really
Hope to learn a lot from the members here, and hopefully help other newbies too.
Cheers from India!
