After seeing everyone receive these stamps for free, I requested the catalog and free stamps on March 28. Well I received an email that the request for the catalog was overwhelming and that I would not be receiving a hard copy. I could, if I wanted to, look at the catalog online.
Today I did received my two free stamps, without selvedge.
My Nazi Storm Trooper selvedge came in near the end of last month. I didn't have time to scan/post until now.
Apparently they ran out of selvedge. But to their credit, they did supply a stamp in place of the missing selvedge. While it's not comparable to getting the selvedge, I appreciate the gesture on their part!
It came mounted on a very nice stock card. Nice touch!
Careful examination of the back of the selvedge shows that although it is never hinged, the gum does show a few minor drop-outs as well as some very fine matting -- usually a result of improper storage. It's more easy to see on the gum over the stamp parts because of the larger area. But the gum disturbance is not obvious and pretty much has to be viewed at an angle under a strong light. Since I don't mount my selvedge face down, it's not a big deal.
Thank you, UPA; and also youpiao for starting this thread. Originally I wasn't going to get it, but since so many other stamp bears were requesting it...
Given that they only had 400 sets and all the promotion via Linn's, APS, and email, I'm really surprised the supply lasted that long.
