We are bringing back the Member of the month program here at Stamp Bears.
Here is how it works -
At the end of Each month the Moderating and Administrative Team will nominate and vote on a member of the month
Nominations will be based on the following: Number of liked posts Post quality Interactions with other members (being helpful) and started new topics
After the team votes we will post in this thread who was selected and a little something about the member.
For the next month that member will also have a Laurel Badge on their mini-profile showing that they are being recognized. after that month a new badge will take its place to signify that you have earned it previously, while the current Member of the Month will get the Laurel Badge
Since this is a restart of a great member recognition program we will announce the September Member of the Month on October 1st.

The Team has taken all due consideration and time to decide on the September Member of the Month.
We are very honored to name tomd as your Member of the Month..
We had some questions for him and he was kind enough to provide these answers: I am truly honored to be selected "Member of the Month", even though I feel I am not worthy of such a honor.
1 - What brought you to Stamp Bears?
Well a group of us was from another stamp forum that was having problems and falling apart fast. It was just 5 of us. Krash had suggested Stamp Bears to me and I went to take a real good look at the forum. When I came as a visitor to take a real hard look, I was hooked by the family atmosphere, friendly people, and a Admin. / Mod team that interacted and was there for us. This of course has been true from the start and is still currently the case. As of recent events forming Stamp Bears 2 proves. A place where you can learn from and teach to all. A place I call Home & members I call Family.
2 - Who or What got you into collecting stamps?
I was collecting United States Quartets, State Parks series. In that set I was collecting was both mints "P" & "D" and 2 stamps for that particular coin. Well I new about the coin, but had no clue about the stamps. So I sent for a stamp catalog from Kenmore. I received the catalog and some stamps with it. From that day on I was hooked. I loved them. They were world wide stamps. I started collecting stamps, well if you really want to say it when I was 9 or 10. I was too young and had no guidance so it lasted maybe a month if that long, and the stamps are gone. But I have been bitten by the stamp bug and hooked for the long haul.
3 - What are your collecting interests? (what do you collect?)
United States, and Canada coins, and of course Stamps
4 - If you had one stamp collecting wish what would it be?
The genie of the lamp gave 3 wishes, but I get only one, so here it is.
I would love to be able to help any and all in receiving stamps as I have received from gracious forum family members and to share information on stamps to expand ones horizons and to bridge the gap between countries.
5 - Of all of the great stamps you have shared with us, what stamp is your number 1 favorite? Why? (if you can not pick one, then what thread that you started is your favorite one?)
I would have to answered this with I do not know. I like so many stamps as well as threads. But I tend to like the older 1 or 2 colored stamps over the more modern multicolored ones.
Again, I am caught by surprise. Thank you so much this bring a, well the smilie tell's it all.
Congratulations Tom, This is well deserved and I am sure that this will not be the last time that you receive this.
My main collecting interest is the Fire Service (stamps, First Day Covers, postcards and slogans). I also collect Birds, Lighthouses, Civil War, Frogs, Rugby and Mills. My country collections are South Africa, Australia and Rhodesia. It never stops adding on. I would consider myself more of a topical collector.
I am a letter writer, snailmail addict. I send therefore I receive. I also manage a letter writing/correspondence forum called A World of Snail Mail and have a blog (link is in my profile). I sometimes post pictures on Instagram (username morgaine_does_snail_mail) Stamp themes - science, nature, postal history, maps, nice stamps.
