I thought it would be nice if Stampbear's Forum help the new members that are joining us. So I am going to take pictures of the tools of our wonderful hobby. This will take me a little time to do this, so Bear with me.
At the end I will ask if anyone else can think of more Terminology. If someone wants to start a thread for questions about the pictures or comments that would be great.

Stamp Hinges-They are made of strong, lightweight paper with peel able gum to put the stamps in your stamp album. The directions are on the package but let me explain how I put the hinges on ONLY USED stamps. I moisten the short end and attach to the back side of the stamp near the top of the stamp. The long part is also moisten and is mounted on the album page. If you put the stamp in the wrong place, please wait until the hinged stamp it thoroughly dry. Or you could damage the stamp.

In this picture are stamps that are drying on paper towels. See the 2 stamps and how stamps can dry and curl up. One way to stop this is to put a book on the stamps as they are drying. Or put the dried stamps in a glassine between the pages of a heavy book.

Stock sheets - These are 2 kinds of stock sheet pages. The cream colored pages is nice because you can write notes or Scott numbers right by the stamps. The black stock sheet holds the stamps better and you can see the whole stamp.
I have written the Scott Catalog numbers on a piece of paper and placed it beside the stamps. So if you want to see if you have a extra stamp for someone, all you have to do is look for the number. (You will find with everything I have Listed, Some people have their favorite items, When you collect stamps for years, you will feel more comfortable with one pair of tongs or like one kind of stock sheet better)

Stock books- They come in different colors and different amount of pages. Even different amount of strips. The stock sheet above has 8 strips to hold the stamps. Some stampers keep their "mint" stamps in stock books by country. OR you can keep your special interest stamps in a stock book.
(For Example if you want to just collect stamps of ships and lighthouses)

Watermark tray- Watermarks or designs may be found on the back of some stamps. Some stamp collectors like to collect stamps with different watermarks. There can be marks of stars, letters and crowns. Plus many others.
Watermark Fluid- This is to use with the tray. But Warning: Some inks dissolve in the fluid.
