IN order to give everyone a lot of time to prepare we will be running our next exhibition in February.
here is the time line..
From February 1st though the 15 entries will need to be sent to me (Bear) via PM with all details and images in one post...
on February 16th i will open a thread for each entry with this information posted in one post.
From February 16- 25th voting will occur.
on the 26th a winner will be announced.
VOTE HOW YOU WANT TO VOTE - we are not professionals and i do not expect professional style judgments.. If your heart says vote for member X over member Y for what ever reason then vote that way.. (and before it starts up, no this is not open to debate. you vote how you want to and i really dont care about rules at other places)
NOW for the fun part. the exhibition guidelines -
YOUR exhibit must be 2-4 pages + a cover page (cover page not required to have stamps or covers on it)
the topic is "A history through stamps"
you decide what to depict, how to represent it, and you may use any or all of the following - stamps, covers, cut corners, Cinderella's, or Facsimiles.
i would like to keep a running list of entries so please feel free to post your intent here (we understand if you may need to withdraw at a later date)....
so who is up for another one?
Butterflies - RECEIVED Perfs14 - RECEIVED kannik - not entered... rayb - RECEIVED Fire - RECEIVED
A great topic! I should try, ....but, not having done it before and knowing full well that by exhibiting I will at a minimum be showing myself off as lame and incompetent ........... well at least I have some time to think about it.
Will try my hand at it as there is plenty of time to prepare. Interesting topic.
My main collecting interest is the Fire Service (stamps, First Day Covers, postcards and slogans). I also collect Birds, Lighthouses, Civil War, Frogs, Rugby and Mills. My country collections are South Africa, Australia and Rhodesia. It never stops adding on. I would consider myself more of a topical collector.
@bear Can you please clarify what precisely defines 'cover page'?
I`ll give it a try, rayb. Bear, if I have missed anything, please add it, or if you don`t agree with what I have said, please feel free to change it.
The cover page doesn`t count in the 1 to 4 pages. It doesn`t have to have any philatelic material on it (stamps, postcards, etc.) The other 1-4 pages all do have to have some. The cover page can contain a table of contents, explanation of the subject, maybe things like a map or a picture to explain or clarify the rest. And I think it could contain a story - maybe how hard it was to obtain a certain item. But maybe don`t mention any prices of items.
Collecting Australia, New Zealand, Channel Islands, Canada, U.S., St-Pierre et Miquelon, Faroe Islands Topical - Seahorses, Paleophilately, Machins (limited), kingfishers, trees, horoscope & zodiac, O`Higgins (Chile), Lake Baikal.
Ok thanks. All really wanted to know was whether there was a bar on using text (other than the title) on the cover page. It seems from what you say that there isn't; but as it happens I've found enough piccies to fill it up anyway, so I don't have to worry. Thanks anyway.
I am a letter writer, snailmail addict. I send therefore I receive. I also manage a letter writing/correspondence forum called A World of Snail Mail and have a blog (link is in my profile). I sometimes post pictures on Instagram (username morgaine_does_snail_mail) Stamp themes - science, nature, postal history, maps, nice stamps.
