Stamps I Don't Have (But Are Now On My Want List)

This why, try as I might, I cannot set a cutoff date for collecting. I want to stay focused on classic era ("Classic" in this sense being the Scott Classic, up to 1940), but then along comes a pretty face (or 3, or 4, or more  ), from a later date, and all bets are off.

Ran across these while perusing auction listings, and I says to myself, "Self, there be some mighty fine designs. You need these." While they are all cheap enough (under 3 bucks, retail, for the C18-21), I really prefer better (i.e. "nice") centering, which seems to be scarce among these stamps. I can wait, though.

I'll use this thread to highlight other stamps I come across, and which my self says I need.
I'd also welcome others' contributions. Show some stamps that catch your eyes with stunning designs that just beg for you (like an inmate at the local animal shelter) to take them home with you.

My year started in Moscow. I sent a letter to friends in Colombia. It required 105 rublyey in postage. The clerk at the post office near my hotel gave me stamps of 1 rubl’, 4 rublya and 50 rublyey. They looked stunning on the envelope. I must force myself not to buy blocks of four stamps of this series.

I decided recently to cut off at 1963, and I have been divesting of everything newer, but I can't let go of Iceland.

Don't know how you do it. When I restarted my WW collection, I forced a cutoff date of 1940, which changed to 1945, which changed to 1953, which changed to 1955, which changed to 1970...

My current forced cutoff date is 2025. This one I might make.

But at this point, I'm more concerned with setting area limitations rather than time period limitations. For example, I have successfully crossed off cinderellas among my collecting areas.

When I was just starting school I got the measles and was quarantined for 3 weeks. (not unlike now) Got up in the attic and found a box of Canada/Nfld. stamps. (most cheapies) that kept me busy for some time but the hook was in and I never did get it out.

Later I was introduced to H.E. Harris stamps on approval. So off went my dime and I received my first lot of approvals along with a small US catalogue. Now I am collecting two countries. I decided (even at that young age) that I was going to collect and complete those two countries. Nice plan but stamp prices and my my pocket money clashed. (and to this day is still clashing.) This went on for awhile and he started sending me other countries. I got stuck on Russia. I just got hooked on all those planes/ships/animals/etc. and kept getting those for awhile. (now five albums worth)

Then came Great Britain, Australia and so on. I am now over 250 albums of everything. Ranging from 1840 penny black to yesterday. My thought of cutting off at 1980 went out the window at about 1981.

Completion? Not even close in any country. Not even trying anymore. It's a fun collection so I don't worry about getting everything. I take whatever comes along.

Assuming you are still awake after this ramble, I still have some of those attic stamps. Happy stamping and good luck with the cut off dates.
