Removing Italian Priority Mail stamps with Pure Citrus

It is not unusual to find these Italian priority mail stamps in kiloware. This design started being issued in 2001 and updated denominations have been issued ever since.
They are absolutely impossible to remove by soaking in water, however!
Pure citrus will take them off paper but you need to be cautious. The gold portion of this design will start to dissolve if left in the pool of liquid pure citrus on your desktop and this will happen faster if you rub the design face downward on that same hard surface.
The way that I have gotten around this is to spray the backing paper with the design face down on a paper towel and then remove the stamp from the paper towel and onto the dry surface of my desktop. I then slip my tongs between the paper and the stamp and remove the paper. The problem with these stamps is that you have to let the pure citrus soak the back of the stamp for a period of time because the adhesive is particularly difficult on these stamps.
Once you have the paper removed, make sure again, that they are face down on as dry a surface as possible and start to remove the adhesive from the back. You might also consider gently blotting the design on paper towel to make sure there is no excess citrus liquid on the stamp before placing on your desktop.
