My iPad is showing its age and getting slower, at times very irritatingly so. I think I may have to replace it before long, but am wondering whether it would be better to go for something a bit cheaper than an iPad. I am wondering about the Kindle Fire HDX 8.9 inch. Has anyone got experience of this, or any advice?
I use my iPad mainly for browsing, email, Facebook, Twitter, Evernote (an app for storing notes), reading and sometimes TV and radio catchup. I need reliable wifi connectivity and a reasonable battery life (10 hours plus if possible), and preferably a tablet which does not drain the battery too fast when sleeping.

We have Hudl here. Hudl 1 was good, and so is Hudl 2. I'm happy, bought with doubled up clubcard vouchers! I don't yet have the BBC apps, but the podcasts work OK. Fine for tapatalk, browsing, evernote, I don't bother much with Twitter or Facebook on it (though when I do the latter, I use the browswer). Reading is fine on it although I do wish it was one click away to read magazines I have "bought" but that is Googlie's fault!
I am a letter writer, snailmail addict. I send therefore I receive. I also manage a letter writing/correspondence forum called A World of Snail Mail and have a blog (link is in my profile). I sometimes post pictures on Instagram (username morgaine_does_snail_mail) Stamp themes - science, nature, postal history, maps, nice stamps.
