I was doing some research on Lake Erie and found this map.

Seeing that old wagon exposed on the bottom of the lake makes me wonder how many fishing lures have gotten snagged on that thing?

I wonder if there are a lot of stamps that show shipwrecks?

There's probably roughly 2 dozen that I can think of, and that's not including stamps showing active naval battle scenes. Which means there are likely 50+ at least, again not including naval battle scenes. There are even shipwreck sets; for example, Alderney in 1987 and Norfolk Island in 1982.

Even more if you include cinderellas and private/local post. I think Hawaii Post issued a shipwreck set about 2 years ago.

Shipwrecks - hmmm, we have a few here in Cyprus. Some are more famous than others, particulary the Xenobia situated towards the eastern end of the island as that's been turned into a dive site but, it's some 12m deep so only good for experienced divers.

At the western end of the island there are 2 shipwrecks off the coast of Paphos. One is out to sea and has been there for some years the MV Demetrios and she's visible on Google Maps.



The other at Paphos is the Edro III, a cargo ship which ran aground during a storm in December 2011. She's literally a few steps from a quite beautiful area known as Sea Caves and she's become quite a tourist attraction to the disgust of some of the disgruntled ex-pats of a particular Cyprus forum I visit.

The crew escaped safely and she's still there to this day. These are some of my photos of her from 2013:







Much closer to home is the Three Stars shipwreck just 30 metres off the coast of RAF Akrotiri (now famous for the aircraft passes over Iraq and Syria) which is 6km from our home. The Three Stars sank after catching fire in 1972.

I shall try.... we have some big changes coming in our life this year and hopefully once all is settled, I may get some more time to get "stampy" more often!
