Anybody remember the stamp ads on the matchbook covers?

Anybody remember the stamp ads on the matchbook covers?  50s 60s 70s ? 

Primarily a US phenomenon . . i think the approvals might have been too expensive to send overseas.

Very interesting article. Although born in the 60's, I dont remember the matchbook covers with the stamp ads. I do remember getting the Sunday paper and there would be advertisements for different stamp companies. I remember Kenmore and Harris....

Most people dont like Mystic, but I dont have a problem with them. I do love there US album and think its one of the best for collecting US stamps.

I remember seeing these. My mother smoked when I was a kid and I remember looking at the matchbook covers...this was about the same time I received my first big orange bag of stamps from Harris and my Traveler stamp album which got me started on stamp collecting. Perhaps one of the only benefits anyone can claim from smoking cigarettes....

I don't remember stamp ads on matchbooks but I do remember them on comics.

In addition to all the aforementioned, I also remember, and patronized, Littleton Stamp Company and Garcelon Stamps.

Yep, I remember those neat little ads. May have answered a few of them from time to time back in the day.
