When do you have the most FUN while doing stampy stuff?

I think I have the most FUN when I start collecting a new 
subject (and I have done that OFTEN!)  That`s because I 
love to order stamps on line, and when I start collecting a 
new subject, I can buy lots of stamps at a lower cost per
stamp, because I don`t have ANY of them, and I know I 
don`t.  I know pretty well which ones I have, and which 
ones I don`t and don`t have to refer back to my collection
to SEE which ones I`m missing.

Another thing I like is when I get 50-100 stamps on one 
subject and I can arrange them into some sort of order so
that I can see which ones I have easily and which ones I
still need - to make up a set or contribute to an idea I have.

These are both very absorbing parts of stamp collecting
and take a lot of time!

The most fun I have had was when we (John & I) have bought a large pile of kiloware and we will spend hours at the table going through it all. Then once sorted we will spend even more time together putting the stamps into our albums, deciding who will get what sets out of the kiloware if there are no duplicates. Just overall quality time together.

hmm the most fun for me is finding that one stamp that finishes a page.. i love to have full paged in my albums and the sense of achievement is very cool..

the next on the fun - o - meter would be getting packets in the mail.. even if they are things i wont use for me its fun to find out and explore the new packet.

To me, the most fun is starting to go through a large messy wad of album pages or stock pages from a "messy accumulation in a box." That's when the whole "treasure hunt" thing kicks in. And that's really reflected in my stamp collections... I'm far better at "finding treasure" than I am at "keeping beautiful stamp albums." Most of my collections are in a state of "album with some stamps and a wad of glassines marked 'put in album.'"

The most fun I have experienced is when I sit down with fellow collectors and discuss our hobby and exchange stamps. I am a member of a stamp club here in Regina and I love attending the meetings, socializing with members and leaning more about our fantastic hobby from the great presentations that are given to the membership.

I have to admit, the most fun I have is going through a big box of stamp albums, accumulations, sets and singles and mixtures and junk, trying to put some order to the stuff. I think that's why I got into part-time stamp dealing, so I could glean out the good stuff for myself and sell the others to unsuspecting ... er, eager, collectors.

we have had a few chances to help out kids and newer collectors with packets...

I do not like to see a box of loose stamps, torn up album pages with stamps on it, or just a big lot of glassines in no order. When I went to my favorite stamp shop a few years ago, I would find these poor boxes that needed my care. Some boxes would take a week to get in some kind of order. That is what I like the most, taking a stamp mess like the one in picture and putting it in order so I can sort though the stamps. I don't think stamps should be just thrown in a box.

I enjoy spending countless hours online looking for a cover (or single) to grab my attention or in some cases to be rescued from an un-fit hoarder... I'll spend 8-12 hours a day looking for material from the ares I collect and there is no better feeling to me than pulling the trigger on that "Oh that's coming home to me" lot, or the opening up of a package from an eBay lot especially if I have forgotten about it (which is all too often since I have the memory of a goldfish so I'm told by the wife..) Right now I'm tracking another eBay find on it's way to me from Canada!

I think the most fun for me is going to the mailbox and finding stamps in there. I'll literally run back to the house and open it before I do anything else.
I also like the hunt when I buy an estate or like on ebay yesterday a big lot. Just don't know what you will find in there

I enjoy going through large world wide mixtures and determining whether or not I need a particular stamp in my collection.

The most fun and enjoyment for me, is when everyone in the house is gone, and all my honeydoos are taken care of and I have absolutely nothing else to do but work on some facet of my collection.  Oh, and doing this still in my pajamas.

I like the THAT moments: when after hours of unsuccessful research and even more hours of staring blankly at a cover you suddenly say "So THAT's why it travelled THAT route/carried THAT amount of postage/picked up THAT etiquette/took THAT long to be delivered."

(I also enjoy those rare moments when I remember to write the answer down so I don't forget what it was a couple of years later.)

The most fun I have when considering stamps is putting in a bid on the net and seeing the clock run down.

Sometimes the additional fun is winning the stamp, sometimes it's seeing just how much other bidders are prepared to bid for the same item. I never make more than one bid.

I love it when I have had difficulty identifying what a stamp is, and then suddenly get a wave of inspiration, and hey presto! I find the answer. Also, those rare occasions when I get a real bargain on eBay or elsewhere.
