Fellow Stamp Bears,
Thank you all for your many wonderful, informative, entertaining... posts over the years. Every post is appreciated and contributes to building up our forum.
In the past, we allowed for unlimited editing time. Thus members could edit typos, add information, remove incorrect information, update pic links... Some members used this feature to keep updating their previously posted album pages as new stamps came in.
Regrettably, we have had to change this policy. In the past year, we have had 2 instances of members either deleting all their posts or deleting their accounts, without any warning or any explanation or any indication of problems. As far as we know, nothing was posted that would indicate any friction between members or with Stamp Bears administration.
This unfortunately has made numerous excellent threads completely unusable, as well as dotted numerous threads with "Deleted" as the author of the post. A lot of time has to be spent to search and remove unreadable threads, salvage cut threads, cosmetically changing post IDs...
In February 2021, the staff at Stamp Bears decided to restore the post edit time limit, and set to 24 hours (ProBoards default edit time is actually 5 minutes!!!). I know of some forums that turn off the editing function completely.
We feel that 24 hours is enough time to correct typos, edit out any poster's remorse...
We are sorry that this will affect some member's ability to update album page pictures. Please PM one of us and we will work with you on that.
We would respectfully ask that all members, please please please please please, discuss with staff before attempting any large scale deleting of posts/accounts. Let us know if there is a personal issue between members or staff, or simply some difficulty you have encountered in life. We like to think of us as family, and we are all in a giant bear den (full of stamps and , of course). We want to be there for you, whether for stamps or other matters.
Thank you all for understanding and your cooperation!
