I'm currently transferring my U.S. duplicates from old manila stock sheets to a new stock book. I fear my 32-page stock book won't be big enough to hold everything, even after weeding out damaged stamps.

I cannot wait until I qualify for swaps on this board so I can start unloading gifting some of these to others.



Do any of you have similar tales of woe?

bethg , Not long ago, I squeezed the very last 7 feet of shelf space out of my study. Does that count?

I understand the joys and problems of too many duplicates. My system of putting my extras in order in manila stock sheets with the Scott numbers works best for me. I leave space to add more pages if I need them. Then I use a stock book for my oldies but goodies. The pricy or mint stamps I put in a mount then in the stock book. ( Learned this from a member on stamp bears )

The last time I took a picture of part of one bookshelf in my study room was over a decade ago, and it took me 1-2 hours to clear away enough stuff to have room to take the picture! I'm not going to do that again. You guys are just way too organized!

I'm at about 100 linear feet in my stamp study room that's dedicated to uhmmm, research into document communication delivery in the 19th and 20th centuries, yeah, that's the ticket. About half of that is blocked by stacked boxes and plastic bins of, uhmmm, supporting research material and assorted piled stuff.

I probably have another 50 linear feet of shelf space at the office and in the storage unit -- I like to keep things spread out to minimize loss (my foray into risk management). Stuff at the office is purely for risk management, as is the emergency stash of put there.

I've seen your "work area" pictures. Again, you guys are really way way too organized, or simply don't have enough, uhmmm, research material...

I agree khj, there's nothing better then looking for something you know you have for hours.

I've solved that problem, crazyquilter. As I go through the bins, it turns out there are more than a few stamps that I bought multiple copies of over the years -- simply because I forgot that I had already purchased it.

Oh well, the more the merrier!

Why bother looking for it when you can just buy another one. Of course, I've yet to get the 1¢ Magenta (it's low on my list -- have you seen the condition?!?). That one, when I get it, I'll have to remember.
