I believe that most people would want more info and/or stamps to get a message across. As for your exhibit, its simple, clean, and to the point...... Three reasons that I voted for you. I truly enjoyed it, esp. the background. It got me buzzing............

As the saying goes -- too many cooks spoil the broth -- I thought you got just the right number and types of stamps to highlight the poem rather than overwhelm it. Same with the background, very interesting yet not overtaking the poem.

The poem uses some fancy language. Would a fancier font work??

I think you did a good job here Darrin. I think if this was outside of Stampbears the background would cost you points. Overall i was jealous the minute you posted it.

I applied the Gordon Lee rules of viewing single-page exhibits while looking at yours. These are my results:

When you planned your exhibit I can tell you applied the less is more theory. It works. You picked out a simple poem, that mostly rhymes, and placed four stamps along side the four stanzas. I just didn't realize that half the bees in the whole wide world are Swedish.

The use of a background is a good idea. It eats up a lot of empty space. Personally I think it is just a tad too busy. (Ha ha ... busy -- bees, get it?)

There seems to be a misalignment with the title, first stanza, and stamp. Is it just me or is it squished to the left and too high? Also, I would have liked to have seen some information about the stamps. After all, it is a stamp and poem exhibit.

For the over all simplicity of this Dickens of an exhibit, it got my vote.

Thank you to everyone for your input. I have similar thoughts regarding this, my 2nd exhibit. I wanted a background that represented my subject matter and tried to give the picture I was using a washed-out appearance which, to me, left it unrecognizable. I also tried simply lightening the picture and leaving it as a color picture which it was originally but it made the whole thing too busy. In the end the I settled on this background because I could still make out the detail of the honeycomb.

One thing nobody has noted so far is that I may have divided up the stanzas of the poem incorrectly. I found the poem on a webpage devoted to Emily Dickinson's poetry and this is how it was divided. I have seen it as one continuous poem elsewhere.

I tried to pick out stamps that highlighted the themes in each stanza of the poem and it did not occur to me to use bee stamps from different countries. I simply went with what fit the theme best. Besides, Gordon Lee, bees in Michigan all have Swedish accents.
