Are you a Member of the Philatelic Society?

I have been asked to join the American Philatelic Society. I would like to know if any of our members have joined
and that got me thinking. (it happens) shhhh. no comments 1774739874


In other countries are there Philatelic Societies? What do they offer to members?

In Canada there are:

RPSC (Royal Philatelic Society of Canada)

BNAPS (British North America Philatelic Society)- more specialised

PHSC (Postal History Society of Canada)

I don't belong to any, but if I were to choose I would lean toward the RPSC because it's a more general society similar to the APS (I'm a general collector).

All have their strengths. They have websites (the first two .org and the third .net (omit the of))

I'm certain there are more but these are the big three.

I joined the American Society of Polar Philatelists last year,
but discovered that they are more interested in Antarctica
than the Northern Polar region. As such, they are more
interested in Marcophily (postmarks) than stamps and places
where supply (and other) ships go there. Now I`m considering
joining the American Topical Society, except that I think
their booklet on Kingfishers is out-of-print!

Good aftternoon crazyquilter. I belong to a few philatelic societies. They are the RPSC, BNAPS, and the ISWSC. I also belong to the American Topical Association. They all serve the greater hobby which is a good thing. I used to belong to the APS, but the benefits to a member outside of the US coupled with some other reasons (none of which were related to the society), led me to resign my membership.

I would recommend joining the APS as they do offer a lot to Collectors.

I am a life member of the American Topical Association. Used to be a member of APS, but resigned many years ago when I went on hobby hiatus. Never rejoined, although you can get on their email list without being a member. Also used to be long to the International Society of Japanese Philatelists when I collected and dealt with Japanese stamps/covers. And the American Society of Polar Philatelists society as well. Locally, I belonged to the Hawaiian Philatelic Society.

Have been a member of the APS for about 5 years now..... I would highly recommend it.

I was a member of the APS but didn't renew it last year when it ran out. I could see the benefit's for a Stamp Club to belong but not for an Individual. Besides a one year membership is $45. I would rather spend that money for stamps.
